5/22/2000  Some unusual cones

What is this?  From a distance it doesn't look too strange.

It's hiding in the dark. Perhaps it is ashamed of its strange appearance.

What the heck is that?  Here is another view, from the top:

Here are two of the rare blue cones. This breed is rarely seen in the wild, particularly around these parts. These were at a car wash, perhaps their native habitat?
